The Krum collection is one of our first series, and it started with a cup – inspired by the perfect shape, balance and contrasts of the egg. The idea came about during a Sunday breakfast, when the top of a boiled egg was cracked off in a diagonal line. The egg’s matte, hard shell, the soft, shiny egg white and the intense yolk became the starting point for the design. This is reflected in the porcelain material, where only the edge is glazed with a transparent glaze, providing a tactile experience reminiscent of touching an eggshell. Krum unites the robust with the fragile, the matte with the shiny – a natural balance in every detail.

The matte surface contrasts with a glazed edge, adding subtle variation both visually and tactilely. The interplay between these creates a calm yet vibrant experience in use.

This thinking has been central to the development of our color recipes for through-dyed porcelain. The Krum series, and especially the cups, now come in a wide range of colors. We love the small nuances, which can make it difficult to choose - but offering possibilities whether you want a muted, harmonious palette or a playful combination of contrasts, Krum gives you the opportunity to put together your own color mix, just like nature does.
