Down under the icy water of the North Atlantic at Lindesnes, guests are invited to eat five and a half meters below the surface - where the panoramic view of the seabed provides a dramatic backdrop. Here guests get an opportunity to take advantage of the otherwise rare marine ecosystem. In harmony with Snøhetta and other experienced local partners, Under has created an iconic, sunken gourmet restaurant.
No restaurant is as close to nature as the underwater restaurant Under in Lindesnes. This was the main source of inspiration and materials for ment® when developing the restaurant's tableware.
When Under's head chef Nicolai Ellitsgaard engaged ment® to design the tableware for his 18-course menu, sisters Sidsel Forr Hemma and Ingvild Hemma decided to think completely new. In the process of the final design, ment investigated several materials and solutions. The objects emphasize both Under's unique restaurant concept and Snøhetta's innovative architecture. ment® started the design project in June 2018, and it has been a demanding and inspiring process.
